Instructor: Trevor Novak

Ages: 7 - 13

In this sculptural hand building class, kids will learn to create figures and animals in clay using coils, slabs, and pinching! These techniques are sure to fire up the kids imaginations, giving them the tools to create whatever they can dream up, a person, animal or a hybrid of the two! Students will leave the class with unique sculptural creations they can call their own, and some hands on experience working with foundational ceramic techniques.

Activities #4 Kids Fibre & Indigo Natural Dyeing (Cost $70)

Date: March 12 - 16 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Instructor: Tamsin Sloots

Ages: 7 - 13

Get your hands fluffy and explore fibre! In this class, kids will be introduced to some basic fibre techniques including spinning, finger knitting, and crochet. Kids will experience how fibre goes from a fluffy roving to a yarn to a knitted or crochet fabric through hands-on fun and interactive demonstrations. Explore the magic of Indigo dyeing! In this class kids will get to play with a natural indigo vat, and be introduced to the idea of natural dyeing: how to use found natural materials to make dyes. Through tying, wrapping, clamping, clipping, and tugging students will prepare bundles of fabric to dip in the indigo vat and create their very own tie-dyed accessories, all in amazing shades of indigo blue!

Activities #5 Jewelry for Teenagers (Cost $100)

Date: March 12 - 16 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Instructor: Violeta Izguierdo

Learn how to make your own piece of jewelry! By creating your own charms and using jump rings students will learn how to make a bracelet or a necklace. Students will also learn how to solder a ring and personalize it by adding texture or their own cut out shapes.
