During the 2017 Trashformer Program, the Trashformers' have been asked to track and compile data on the following information this summer:

• Number of garbage bags filled with litter and debris.
• The weight of these materials removed from our streets and public areas.

 

The Trashformer's will also be tracking common litter items they pick up. The common items which will be tracked include:

Refundables (glass, plastic bottles & cans)
Fast food packaging
Hot drink cups
Cold drink cups
Cigarette packages
Cigarette Butts

 

WEEK 7 of the Trashformer Program: Tuesday, July  4 to Friday, July 7, 2017

 

68 garbage bags were filled with litter and debris and disposed of at the Waste Management Facility by the Trashformers. The total weight of the contents contained in the 68 garbage bags they filled was 290 kg or 0.29 tonnes.

 

The Trashformer’s picked up:

185 Refundable beverage containers
545 Fast food wrappers
640 Hot drink cups
102 Cold drink cups
264 Cigarette packages
125 Cigarette butts
0 Sharps (needles)

 

Some of the uncommon items the Trashformer’s removed from their cleanup area's during the week of July 4 to July 7, 2017 included:

Baby strollers
Car parts
Vehicle seats
Shingles

 

 

WEEK 8: Trashformer Program Update:   Monday, July 10 to Friday, July 14, 2017

 

101 garbage bags were filled with litter and debris and disposed of at the Waste Management Facility by the Trashformers. The total weight of the contents contained in the 101 garbage bags they filled was 400kg or 0.40 tonnes.

 

The Trashformer’s picked up:

185 Refundable beverage containers
1,045 Fast food wrappers
1,315 Hot drink cups
218 Cold drink cups
410 Cigarette packages
108 Cigarette butts
4 Sharps (needles)

 

Some of the uncommon items the Trashformer’s removed from their cleanup area's during the week of July 10 to July 14, 2017 included:

Lots of styrofoam
1         propane tank
1         satellite box
2         shopping carts
248     “weed baggies”
