During the 2018 Trashformer Program, the Trashformers' have been asked to track and compile data on the following information this summer:

 

• Number of garbage bags filled with litter and debris.
• The weight of these materials removed from our streets and public areas.

 

The Trashformer Team will also compile data on the following litter items listed below during this season’s program:

 

Refundable items

Fast food wrappers

Hot drink cups

Cold drink cups

Cigarette packages

Cigarettes butts

Sharps (needles)

The Trashformers will also note any odd or unusual items they pickup each week from the community.

 

 

Month of July 2018: Progress Report

 

Week 6: Trashformer Program Progress for the Week of Monday, July 2, 2018 to Friday, July 7, 2018

 

95 garbage bags were filled with litter and debris and disposed of at the Waste Management Facility by the Trashformers.

 

The total weight of the contents contained in the 95 garbage bags they filled was 330kg or 0.33 tonnes.

 

The Trashformers removed:

 

650 Refundable beverage containers

280 Fast food wrappers

620 Hot drink cups

285 Cold drink cups

420 Cigarette packages

507 Cigarette butts

1 Sharps (needles)

 

Some of the uncommon items the Trashformers removed from their cleanup area's during the Week of July 2, 2018 to July 7, 2018 included:

Week 7:  Trashformer Program Progress for the Week of Monday, July 9, 2018 to Friday, July 13, 2018

 

133 garbage bags were filled with litter and debris and disposed of at the Waste Management
Facility by the Trashformers.

 

The total weight of the contents contained in the 133 garbage bags they filled was 550 kg or 0.55
tonnes.

 

The Trashformers picked up:

72 garbage bags were filled with litter and debris and disposed of at the Waste ManagementFacility by the Trashformers.

The total weight of the contents contained in the 72 garbage bags they filled was 210kg or 0.21tonnes

 

The Trashformers picked up:

475     Cold drink cups

525     Cigarette packages

900     Cigarette butts

87 garbage bags were filled with litter and debris and disposed of at the Waste Management
Facility by the Trashformers.

The total weight of the contents contained in the 87 garbage bags they filled was 280 kg or 0.28tonnes

161 garbage bags were filled with litter and debris and disposed of at the Waste Management
Facility by the Trashformers.

The total weight of the contents contained in the 161 garbage bags they filled was 550 kg or 0.55
Tonnes.
