CBRM Recreation Announces ‘Taste of Winter’ Festival
February 10, 2017
With winter expected to be shorter than usual this year, a taste seems to be all we will receive. With this in mind, the Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM) Recreation Department has announced the ‘Taste of Winter’ festival- an initiative aimed at providing activities for residents across all age groups during February and March 2017.
Taste of Winter will feature over 30 activities in many different neighbourhoods across the CBRM, focusing on the categories of Outdoor Fun, Indoor Fun, Active Living, and Special Events. The activities will begin on February 19th at 6pm with an ‘Indoor Drive In’ at George D. Lewis School in Louisbourg, featuring a showing of Disney’s ‘Moana’. Other activities include curling, skating, trail hikes, seniors socials, as well as the annual Louisbourg Slush Run and a new Snowboard competition launched in partnership with Ski Ben Eoin and Ollie Around.
“It is important that our residents feel there are options for active living, outdoor and indoor fun, and entertaining events happening in the winter,” says CBRM Recreation Program Coordinator Joe Costello. “We’ve designed Taste of Winter with accessibility in mind, while also looking to host this diverse set of activities in as many neighbourhoods as possible.”
Taste of Winter will release a full schedule of activities early next week via www.tasteofwinter.ca.
