Comfort Centres Opening at 12 Noon today

Several municipal comfort centres opening at 12 noon today

The Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM) is advising residents that several comfort centres will be opening at 12 noon today for residents with loss of power.

Citizens who require a comfort centre due to power loss are reminded to only attend a location if you can do so safely. Please drive with care, watch for debris, downed trees and power lines. Please respect all barricades and road closures. 

Comfort centre locations are as follows:

• Grand Lake Road Fire Department (850 Grand Lake road, Sydney)

• New Waterford Fire Department (3336 Walsh Avenue, New Waterford)

  • Hours of Operation: 12 noon – 5 pm (To be reassessed at 5pm)
• North Sydney Firemen’s Club (14 Pierce Street, North Sydney)

  • Hours of Operation: 12 noon – 5 pm (To be reassessed at 5pm)
• Reserve Mines Fire Department (203 Main St, Reserve Mines)

  • Hours of Operation: 12 noon – 5 pm (To be reassessed at 5pm)
• Big Pond Fire Department (7193 east Bay Highway, Big Pond)

  • Hours of Operation: 12 noon – 5 pm (To be reassessed at 5pm)

Services will include heat, hot drinks and charging stations. Closing times will be determined later today.

Further openings will be dependent on power restoration times.
