Annual meetings offer opportunity to reach out to all corners of the municipality
SYDNEY, NS – Several CBRM councillors are already making plans to bring annual budget meetings to other communities in their districts in the coming years.
This year's meetings are scheduled in each of the 12 districts. To reach even more people with the budget workshops, many CBRM councillors will rotate the annual meetings around their district.
All residents of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality are encouraged to attend a meeting in their own district to participate in the planning and priority-setting for the region's $137 million budget
District 2 Councillor Charlie Keagan is hosting this year's meeting in North Sydney on Sunday, February 10, but plans to hold meetings in Bras d'Or and Millville in the years ahead.
Darren Bruckschwaiger, District 10 Councillor, posted his plans on his Facebook page
"It is planned that these type meetings will happen every year prior to budget discussions. I will be spreading these meeting around over the four-year term. This year it will be held in Dominion on February 17th, year two in Gardiner Mines, year three in Glace Bay and year four in Reserve Mines."
