Used Tire Disposal

Residents are reminded that Used TIRES are NOT accepted curbside and will not be collected during heavy garbage collection. Used Tires are also not accepted for disposal at the Waste Management Facility on SPAR Road in Sydney.  Residents must return used or unwanted tires to any tire retailer in CBRM.

 

The tires highlighted below MUST BE returned to a Tire Retailer:

• Car and truck tires

• Motorcycle tires

• Camper tires

• Trailer tires

 

Roll it Back Free of Charge

You can return up to four used tires at one time to any tire retailer in the province at no cost. Tires must be removed from the rim and be free of mud and debris. Used tires can also be left at the tire retailer when you buy new ones at NO COST.

 

Environmental Handling Fees on New Tires SOLD in Nova Scotia

When you purchase NEW Tires in Nova Scotia, you will be charged an environmental handling fee. The fee is determined by the size of the tire and the type of tire purchased.

 

ALL Passenger Tires*:                         $   4.50" +HST

Light Truck Tires 17" and Under:         $   4.50" +HST

Light Truck Tires over 17":                   $ 13.50" +HST

ALL Truck Tires 24.5" and Under:        $ 13.50"+HST

 

*Includes all on-road, motorcycle, camper and tow-behind trailer tires.
