Makin' Waves will present exciting nationally and internationally recognized artists over the five weeks of the festival. With a cross section of musical genres that will excite citizens and visitors of all ages, the festival will bridge Canada Day and the Sydney Action Week festival on the Downtown Sydney event docket.

"CBMIC is thrilled to see the CBRM taking an active role in promoting local and regional talent through the Makin Waves Music Festival," says CBMIC Chair Jennifer Currie. "Many facets of our local music industry will be showcased to locals and tourists alike, developing new audiences for the artists and continuing our strong tradition of live music appreciation here in Cape Breton."

The festival has been named part of Destination Cape Breton's (DCBA) 15 in 15. From DCBA, "To get to know the true spirit and personality of our island, we highly recommend experiencing Cape Breton's Events with Heart. These top 15 events of 2015 showcase our Island's living culture, exceptional venues and unique lifestyle."

The lineup of the inaugural Makin' Waves concert series will start to be released starting May 13th via www.makinwavesfestival.ca.
