Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy

The Municipality is responsible for handling access to information requests under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPOP) provisions in Part XX of the Municipal Government Act. This applies to non-police records and includes coordinating official civic functions and visits related to your request.

To make a FOIPOP request, submit a completed Form 1: Municipal Application along with the $5.00 application fee payable to the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.

If you wish to request a review, use Form 7: Request for Review.

For police records, FOIPOP requests should be directed to the Cape Breton Regional Police Headquarters at 865 Grand Lake Road, Sydney, NS, B1P 6W2.
