Curbside Collection Schedule

Collection Reminders

  • Day Time Collection: Green carts, garbage and blue bags must be placed curbside for collection before 6 a.m. on your curbside collection day.
  • Overnight Collection: Green carts, garbage and blue bags must be placed curbside for collection before 12 a.m. in the areas of Grand Lake Road, Roads off Grand Lake Road, Kytes Hill Subdivision, Gardiner Mines and Reserve Mines.
  • A maximum of 5 regular-sized clear garbage bags can be placed curbside each week. One optional dark garbage bag can be substituted for one clear bag.
  • All garbage or blue bags placed curbside for collection must weigh 12kg (25 pounds) or less.
  • Regularly inspect your green cart for damage.
  • The serial number located on the front of your green cart must face the direction of the street.
  • Do not place garbage bags inside your green cart. Green carts containing garbage bags will be tagged and left uncollected.
  • Residents are responsible for removing tagged or uncollected garbage and blue bags from the curb.

Green Cart Repair/ Replacement

You should check their green carts regularly for signs of wear or damage. Common types of damage include: 

  • Cracked front lift
  • Holes
  • Broken or missing lid
  • Missing or chewed vents
  • Cracks in the body
  • Missing axle or wheels

If you notice any damage, contact us in one of the following ways:

  1. Call the Solid Waste Hotline at 902-567-1337
  2. Download the Green Cart Repair Replacement Request Form on our Forms page and email the completed application to solidwastehotline@cbrm.ns.ca
  3. Print and drop off the form at:

You will then be added to the waiting list. A repair technician will visit your property to assess the cart. If it cannot be repaired, a replacement cart will be issued.
