The Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM) has scheduled a public information session regarding the Sydney Harbour West Wastewater Collection & Treatment Project. Information provided will include an overview of the funding program and timeline, project objectives and milestones, and project activity for 2018.

CBRM calling for expressions of interest to serve on CBRM Smart City Round Table

The CBRM is seeking volunteers to sit on the CBRM Smart City Round table to assist in development of a submission for the Government of Canada Smart Cities Challenge and provide long term feedback to the CBRM in areas where technology can better the lives of residents of the municipality.

Carl Anthony "Campy" Crawford Award

This award is presented annually to a recipient who exemplifies leadership and commitment to justice, fairness, volunteerism, sportsmanship and equality in their community.

 Carl "Campy" Crawford was the first black municipal police officer east of Montreal. Campy exemplified leadership and fairness to all, being a role model for all black youth in his community. He was a well-respected officer and a true gentleman. He believed in a commitment to justice

CBRM hosting public open house regarding downtown commercial tax incentives

CBRM hosting public open house regarding commercial tax incentives to promote downtown revitalization and economic development                                                                                               

The Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM) has scheduled a Public Open House to gather public input on the issue of commercial tax incentives to promote downtown revitalization and economic development.

Specifically, to gather public opinion on the concept and the proposed amendments to the Municipal Planning Strategy, identifying the downtown areas where the by-law will be implemented.

CBRM Wastewater Operations will host a public open house concerning Seasonal Disinfection at the Dominion-Bridgeport Wastewater Treatment Plant this Wednesday in Dominion.

Bernie Mason wins the Tom Miller Human Rights Award

The Tom Miller Human Rights Award will be presented to the 2018 award winner, Mr. Bernie Mason of Whitney Pier, at the 11th annual African Heritage Gala this Saturday, January 27th at Membertou Trade and Convention Center.

The Tom Miller Human Rights Award honours the contribution the late Tom Miller made to progressive work in the field of human rights.  The late Tom Miller (Nova Scotia’s first black Alderman) was a dedicated, principled and tireless advocate who supported the rights of all Canadians, particularly those disadvantaged by discrimination or poverty.
