The Cape Breton Regional Municipality is now accepting applications for the 2026/27 Creative Catalyst Program.
The program offers one-time grants ranging from $500 to $2,500 to support the creation and presentation of new artistic projects by local artists. Funding may be used for eligible project expenses such as materials, equipment, artist fees, and venue rentals.
The program is administered by the CBRM and applications are reviewed by a jury of professional artists from the CBRM. Projects are assessed based on artistic merit, quality of previous work, project feasibility, and opportunities for artistic growth.
Since its launch in 2023, the Creative Catalyst program has awarded more than $125,000 to local artists, supporting over 60 projects. Approximately half of the projects have been led by artists from marginalized communities, including racialized persons, persons with disabilities, newcomer populations, and members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Artists of all skill levels and disciplines who are 16 years or older and reside in the CBRM are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is March 27, 2026, at 4 p.m.
To support prospective applicants, the CBRM is hosting information sessions:
•March 3, 1 p.m. – New Waterford Library
