Active Living Expo on Sept 7

The CBRM Recreation Department and the Cape Breton Fiddlers Marathon are pleased to present the 9th annual Active Living Expo!

This year’s Expo takes place at the Membertou Sports and Wellness Centre on Saturday, September 7 from 1 PM to 5 PM.

Admission to the Expo is free and open to anyone interested in learning about active, healthy living opportunities in CBRM. The Expo offers something for everyone and all ages, whether you’re looking to try a new physical activity or to receive health and nutrition information. Items will also be for sale from various local businesses promoting active, healthy living.

CB Transit Update

CB Transit: A reminder that there is no CB Transit service on Labour Day. This Monday, September 2nd.

Construction Advisory:

The NS Dept of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal will be starting construction work on Kings Road, under the overpass for Highway 125, starting tomorrow, Tues, August 27.

A portion of the CBRM owned sidewalk will need to be closed for this work to take place. The sidewalk under Highway 125 will be closed from 7 am – 6pm, Tues, Aug 27 through to Friday, Aug 30.

Nova Scotia Building Code changes effective Sept 1, 2019

Adaptable Housing requirements in the Nova Scotia Building Code will take effect as of September 1, 2019. These changes will be applicable for permits applied for after September 1, 2019.

Transit Routes on Charlotte moved to Esplanade for Saturday, Aug 24

TRANSIT NOTICE: Charlotte Street in Sydney will be closed Saturday, August 24th, for an event. Transit Cape Breton’s stops along Charlotte Street will be temporarily moved to the Esplanade at Pit Street and in front of CBRM City Hall.

The last run on Charlotte Street will leave Dorchester at 10 am. After 11 am, please use the temporary stops on The Esplanade for the remainder of the day.

Transit Cape Breton thanks everyone for their patience during this temporary change.

Construction Advisory: Glace Bay

Beginning at 8:00am tomorrow, Wednesday, August 14th, 2019, the Park Street Bridge in Glace Bay will be closed for repair until approximately 3:00pm.

Detour will be in place for the duration of this construction.

Construction Advisory: Sydney Mines

Starting on Monday, August 12th, 2019, road work will begin on Fraser Avenue, Legatto Street and Main Street and will continue all week, weather dependant.

Detours and traffic control will be in place throughout the duration of this construction.

TRANSIT NOTICE: Charlotte Street will be closed Friday and Saturday, August 9th and 10th

TRANSIT NOTICE: Charlotte Street will be closed Friday and Saturday, August 9th and 10th, for the Downtown Sydney Street Festival. Transit Cape Breton’s stops along Charlotte Street will be temporarily moved for these two days starting on Friday at 8 am and continuing for the full day on Saturday. Returning to regular stops on Monday.

Riders will be able to use the bus stops on Bentick Street. Pick up will also be located on the Esplanade below Pitt Street, Falmouth Street and Wentworth Street.
