CBRM’s first protected bike lane will be installed along both sides of Victoria Road between Connaught Street and Furnace Street in Whitney Pier, beginning this week.
Road painting and installation of flexible delineators will begin Wednesday, September 2. Street parking will be limited along the pilot section. Please avoid curbside parking while crews are working to help keep the work moving safely.
The pilot bike lane will use painted lines and flexible bollards to provide separation between cyclists and vehicle traffic.
The pilot is scheduled to remain in place until the end of November.
Please use caution when travelling through the area and follow traffic controls and signage.
The project was identified as a priority in the 2022 CBRM in Motion Active Transportation Plan. The route was finalized following conversations with local residents, community organizations, students and other community members. Funding is provided through the Connect2 Program.
