Keep our collection crew safe. Never place needles, lancets, or sharps in your garbage, blue bags or green carts. A single needle prick poses a serious health risk to the workers collecting your waste every day.
How to dispose of sharps safely:
1. Pick up a free sharps container at your local pharmacy.
2. Place your used sharps into the container.
3. When the container is full, return the sealed container to your pharmacy free of charge.
You can also drop off sharps at the Waste Management Facility on SPAR on the third Wednesday of every month, free of charge.
Acceptable sharps waste:
– Used needles, including pen needles
– Used syringes
– Used lancets or fingerstick devices
– Used single-dose auto-injectors
– Used infusion set needles or connection needles
