Handi-Trans support for vaccination clinic appointments

SYDNEY, NS -  Transit Cape Breton’s Handi-Trans service is available as free transportation for those aged 80 and over requiring a ride to their COVID-19 vaccination clinic appointment at CBU Canada Games Clinic.

The first clinics are being held on March 15, 19 and 23.

Those 80 and older, who were born in the months of January, February, March and April, can now book an appointment for the clinics at the CBU Canada Games Complex. Each clinic has a set number of appointments available for the clinic dates.

Appointments can be booked by calling toll-free 1-833-797-7772 or online at www.novascotia.ca/vaccination

Once an individual has an appointment time, they can contact Handi-Trans to arrange transportation at 902-539-4336.
Residents must live in the Handi-Trans service area to use this service.

Municipal offices, transit services closed in afternoon

Cape Breton Regional Municipality offices will remain closed on Monday, February 8, due to the ongoing winter storm.

Transit Cape Breton services are also cancelled throughout the afternoon and will be reassessed in the late afternoon to determine if the service will resume in the evening.

Deadline approaching for citizen committee roles

January 19, 2021

SYDNEY, NS - The Council of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality requires the services of citizens willing to serve as volunteer members on Committees of Council or exterior Committees to which CBRM appoints citizens. 

Currently there are vacancies on the following committees:

Board of Police Commissioners

Three positions for a two-year term – with one from Central, North and East Divisions of CBRM. Successful applicants must consent to a criminal record background check as per Section 77 (2) of the NS Police Act Regulations.

Audit Committee 

One position for a two-year term.
