Light Recycling
Used Lighting (lights) are not accepted curbside for collection or for disposal at the Waste Management Facility on SPAR Road in Sydney. These items have been banned from disposal since January 1, 2025.
CBRM's Residential Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Site accepts used lights for free from residents. The Residential Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Site address is:

Accepted Products in the Used Light Recycling Program
- Compact fluorescent lights (CFLs)
- Fluorescent tubes (straight, curved, U, circular, square, etc.)
- High-intensity discharge (HIDs) and special purpose bulbs
- Incandescent and halogen bulbs
- Miniature bulbs
- Light emitting diodes (LEDs)
- Ultra High Performance (UHP) (replacement projector lamps)
- UV and germicidal bulb
