2025 Residential Christmas Tree Collection Program

CBRM's annual Christmas tree collection begins on Monday, January 6.  Residents living at properties eligible for curbside collection must have their tree curbside no later than 6am on Monday, January 6. Please make sure tree remains bare, uncovered and is clearly visible at the curb.

Residential Christmas Tree Collection: Curbside Collection Guidelines

 

1. Undecorated Christmas trees must be placed at the curb for collection no later than 6am on Monday, January 6.

2. Residents are encouraged to wait, until the weekend of January 3-5 to place the tree curbside.

3. Tree stand, decorations, lights, nails, wire, and plastic or cloth coverings used to carry tree to the curb must be removed from the tree once placed at the curb for collection.

4. Christmas trees must remain bare and uncovered.   Do not cover tree with a blanket or a tarp.

5. Christmas trees must be placed in a safe, visible, accessible location at the curb. Collectors are unable to remove trees placed on top of a snow bank, buried in snow, frozen to the ground, or is in a ditch or drain.  

6. Artificial Christmas trees will not be collected.  Artificial trees can be dropped-off at the Waste Management Facility on SPAR Road in Sydney Tuesday to Saturday 8am to 4pm.

7. Undecorated Christmas trees are also accepted for drop-off at the Waste Management Facility at no cost.

Commercial Businesses:  Christmas Tree Drop-Off

Commercial businesses are not eligble for this curbside service.  Businesses can drop-off Christmas trees to the Waste Management Facility on Spar Road in Sydney.  The Waste Managements Site is open Tuesday to Saturday 8am to 4pm.
